You can die now.


Technically it was possible before, but now there's a proper death mechanic.

Here are the changes since last version:

  • You can die in some dreams. Waiting a few seconds after you die will wake you up and you get to keep any items you have collected. If you press "E" before that happens it'll load the last save as usual and you might lose some progress, so waiting to wake up is usually better.
  • Fixed a misplaced "actor hits floor" object which would cause a teleport to activate prematurely.
  • Fixed a wrongly textured wall in the labyrinth.
  • Fixed a floating branch on the large tree in the desert.
  • Implemented the special event that can be triggered from META3. It has a random chance of activating and it won't ever activate on the first or second attempt, requiring a minimum of three attempts to activate.
  • Added new -- largely unfinished -- dreamscape.
  • Added a floor that is affected by the lightning shard effect described in its help message.
    (So far there is only the one floor.)
  • Added a new door the the Nexus, granting access to the new dreamscape.

For the curious about the specifiscs of how the special event works, it is pretty simple. Each time you interact with the object that activates it, a script will generate a random number from 1 to 6 and add it to a running total. If the total goes over 17 it is reset back to zero, and whenever it becomes exactly 17, the event is activated. The running total is also set to about negative two billion once the event is activated so while it is tecnhically possible to activate it again, in practice you can only ever get the event to happen once in a given playthrough.
